Contacting your Trainee

You may not call trainees during training. Their program is an intense, eight week long training experience. You may write letters or ask for his/her address when they call during their few breaks. Trainees do not have access to the Internet, e-mail, cell phones or incoming phone calls. Basic Military Trainees are not authorized visitors until Thursday of the eighth week of training. In order to preserve the integrity of the basic training environment, family members of trainees assigned to Air Force Basic Military training are asked not to make arrangements to meet or observe their trainees who are currently in BMT. This includes visits to Lackland AFB to coincide with the trainee's use of the installation's chapel or other base facilities. Trainees who do not comply with this policy are subject to disciplinary action and are sent back a minimum one week in training. Trainees are authorized access to their personal cell phones a minimum of four times while at BMT. These opportunities will be once they arrive at the airport, by Saturday of their initial week of training to pass address information, midpoint of training during the fourth week and at the end of the seventh week of training to firm up travel arrangements with family and guests. During the other weeks of training, they will be allowed to use calling cards or make collect calls from pay phones to call family or friends. To get your Airman's mailing address refer to the links listed below. If you still require assistance, contact the reception center at (210) 671-3024.
